take the train to Windsor (eat traditional English dinner at Nell Gwynne's with a proper pudding afterwards). Take the train further out to Oxford. Sigh in contentment at this absolutely enchanted little college town. Have a pint at the Eagle and the Child (the Bird and the Brat to the locals) where J.R.R. Tolkien used to hang.

Bath
Stonehenge
The Cotswolds!!!!!

Back in London, wander around Covent Garden. Eat amazing Chinese food (Szechwan Eel with green peppers was my particular favorite). The Cabinet War Rooms in Whitehall, (it's in the St. James Park end of H.R.H Treasury just northwest of Parliament Square), is where the British governement moved during the blitz. They walked out after the war, sealed it up,and forgot it for a couple decades. It is fascinating. All of the equipment, furniture, maps, etc. was just left there. Churchills's suite of rooms where he lived, slept, etc. Fascinating place. You truly feel as if you've been transported back to 1940.
